Background
Pauline is a young girl who loves going to school and hopes to be a teacher, specifically an English teacher, when she grows up. She feels disheartened by the fact that her village does not have affordable access to clean water and hopes to be able to supply her community with clean water too when she grows up. Pauline started complaining about a headache and pain in the ears two days ago. The ear was examined and confirmed to be okay, but Pauline was diagnosed with malaria.
Medical history
Pauline presented with a headache and pain in the ears for 2 days prior to coming to the hospital. The ear was examined and confirmed to be normal. After some tests, Pauline was diagnosed with malaria. Pauline was treated as an out-patient and responded well to the treatment.
Prognosis
Malaria should be treated promptly with the use of antimalarial drugs. If left untreated, it can lead to severe complications and even death. It can result in organ failure, severe anemia, neurological issues, and in some cases, prove fatal, making early diagnosis and treatment crucial for preventing these life-threatening consequences.
