Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Chemtai, a grade five pupil at a nearby local day school, lives with her grandmother in a remote village without electricity. They rely on firewood for cooking and lighting, and fetch stream water for drinking and cooking. The family shares a pit latrine with neighbors. Her grandmother sustains them through small-scale vending of fruits and vegetables, earning just enough to provide two meals a day and occasionally pay school fees. Four days ago, Chemtai began experiencing headache, diarrhea, fever, joint pain, loss of appetite, and general body weakness. Due to financial constraints, they did not seek medical care immediately. While selling vegetables, her grandmother met a neighbor whose child had previously been assisted by Helpster Charity, and she advised them to seek the coordinator’s support. Chemtai was then brought to the hospital, assessed, and diagnosed with severe malaria and diarrhea after investigations were conducted.
