Background
At just 25, Eti Rani, a loving mother who finds joy in gardening and dreams of a bright future for her children, faces a terrifying crisis. After her membrane ruptured at 36 weeks, an ultrasound revealed severe oligohydramnios, making a vaginal delivery impossible and requiring an immediate C-section. Her husband, Sahdev Bepari, a carpenter, earns a meager 9,000 taka a month, an income that is already stretched thin supporting their family of six, including their two-year-old twin sons and his elderly parents. Without this life-saving surgery, they face the devastating possibility of losing both Eti and their unborn child, a tragedy that would shatter their family and extinguish Eti's hope for a brighter tomorrow.
Medical history
After experiencing leaky membrane for 2 days and less fetal movement for 1 day over 36 weeks of her pregnancy , she arrived at our hospital where doctors performed an ultrasound that revealed severe oligohydro amnions with fetal distress , making vaginal delivery impossible. An emergency cesarean section was promptly arranged, and the procedure was successful, resulting in the birth of a beautiful baby girl. Both the mother and the baby are safe and sound, with no complications arising from the surgery. The patient's family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the hospital for their timely and effective care.
Prognosis
Based on the critical diagnosis, the doctor's prognosis is that an immediate cesarean section is a life-saving intervention for both the mother and baby. The patient's ruptured membranes, combined with severe oligohydramnios, reduced fetal movement, and fetal distress, indicate that the baby is in immediate danger. If left untreated, the lack of amniotic fluid will likely lead to umbilical cord compression, cutting off the baby's oxygen and nutrient supply and potentially resulting in irreversible brain damage or even stillbirth.
