Background
Golapi Akter, a hardworking 20-year-old mother, is over 35 weeks pregnant with her second child and faces a high-risk pregnancy due to her baby’s breech position. She lives in a small tin-roofed house with her husband, a day laborer earning only 5,000 BDT per month, and their three family members, including her young child and her mother-in-law who helps at home. Despite her cheerful and caring nature, her family simply cannot afford the emergency C-section her doctor recommends. Without this surgery, both Golapi and her baby are at serious risk of life-threatening complications during delivery. Her dream of a safe birth is hanging by a thread, and the family is desperate for urgent support to protect her and her unborn child.
Medical history
The patient, Golapi Akter was admitted to City Clinic on 05th October 2025. A successful cesarean section was performed the same day, and she delivered a healthy 3.5 kg male baby. Both mother and child progressed well and were discharged on 09th October 2025 with proper postnatal advice. The patient and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, the dedicated volunteers, and City Clinic for their kind support and care throughout the treatment.
Prognosis
An C-section is the only safe option for Golapi Akter and her baby. Without this surgery, the breech position could lead to serious complications during a vaginal delivery, such as the umbilical cord becoming compressed, which would cut off the baby's oxygen supply and lead to brain damage or even death. Her history of a difficult first birth further complicates the situation, increasing the risk of a uterine rupture if labor progresses. A timely C-section will prevent these catastrophic outcomes, ensuring a healthy delivery and a full recovery for both mother and child.
