Vivian is a 15-year-old girl, the firstborn in a family of eight. She is in Grade 7 at a rural public primary school. Her mother, a single parent, is the family’s sole breadwinner and supports them through a small business selling second-hand clothes. The family lives in a rented house, shares a pit latrine with neighbors, and relies on stream water for drinking. Vivian is a hardworking girl who enjoys playing football and dreams of becoming a doctor in the future. Three days ago, she began feeling unwell. She came to the health facility with complaints of cough, vomiting, heartburn, and chest pain. After physical examination and laboratory tests, she was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and mild anemia and was admitted for treatment.

For three days, Vivian had been unwell with cough, severe vomiting, heartburn, and chest pain. She came to the facility after being referred by community health promoters who informed her about Helpster Charity. After enrollment, she underwent physical examination and laboratory tests and was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and mild anaemia. She was admitted for treatment and further management, and by the time of discharge, she had stabilized and fully recovered.

Severe pneumonia with a mild anemia are an emergency condition that requires timely intervention, if left untreated or late treatment it could have been resulted to complications heart problems like heart failure and arrhythmias, cognitive issues, increased risk of infections, restless legs syndrome,acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), respiratory failure requiring a ventilator, lung abscesses (pus-filled pockets in the lung),acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), respiratory failure requiring a ventilator, lung abscesses (pus-filled pockets in the lung) and sepsis.
