Zainab Abubakar Dauda is a cheerful and imaginative 7-year-old girl who enjoys playing with friends and drawing in the sand. She dreams of becoming a nurse one day so she can help care for sick children, inspired by the doctors who treated her. Zainab Abubakar Dauda fell ill starting with a 4-day history of high fever, weakness, abdominal discomfort, poor appetite, and occasional headaches. She was admitted to General Hospital Nguru on 20th July 2025 for treatment. On presentation at our hospital, and after further evaluation, she was diagnosed with acute typhoid fever.

She was treated with oral Ciprofloxacin, Paracetamol for fever, ORS for hydration, and multivitamins for general well-being. She received supportive care, including regular monitoring and encouragement of oral fluids. By the fourth day, she showed significant improvement, with resolution of fever, better appetite, and reduced abdominal discomfort. She was discharged in stable condition on 25th July 2025, and caregivers were educated on hygiene and advised to return for follow-up.special thanks to helpster charity for the medical support.

Zainab is suffering from acute typhoid fever, a bacterial infection caused by Salmonella typhi. She experienced high fever, weakness, abdominal pain, poor appetite, and headaches. The illness required hospital admission and antibiotic treatment. The doctor’s prognosis is positive with prompt and proper treatment; Zainab is expected to recover fully without long-term effects. However, if left untreated, typhoid fever could lead to serious complications like intestinal damage, prolonged illness, or even become life-threatening.
