Yeasmin Akter is a bright and determined 14-year-old girl from a poor family in Chandpur, who dreams of finishing her studies and supporting her parents and little brothers, Ibrahim and Ismail. Her father, Imam Hossain, struggles to provide for the family by driving a CNG auto-rickshaw, earning only about 7,000 taka a month, while her mother, Nasima Begum, cares for the household with almost nothing to spare for medical expenses. After losing vision in her right eye from an old injury, Yeasmin now struggles in school and daily life, yet she remains hopeful and strong. Without urgent treatment, her condition may worsen, leaving her unable to continue her education or achieve her dreams, which would be a heartbreaking loss not only for her but also for her entire family. Supporting Yeasmin’s treatment means giving this brave young girl a chance to see clearly again and build a brighter future for herself and her loved ones.

Yeasmin Akter, a 14-year-old girl, required treatment due to a cataract in her right eye that was causing blurred vision and affecting her daily activities. To restore her sight and prevent further visual impairment, she underwent cataract surgery under local anesthesia performed by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital. The treatment process went smoothly, with careful monitoring to ensure her comfort and safety throughout the procedure. After the surgery, Yeasmin recovered well and quickly began experiencing significant improvement in her visual clarity. She now feels comfortable and can see clearly without the difficulties she faced earlier. Her restored vision has greatly improved her confidence and quality of life. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Rashedur Rahman, Senior Consultant at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Yeasmin urgently requires cataract surgery with secondary intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in her right eye. The doctors have explained that this surgery has a very good prognosis and will significantly improve her vision, enabling her to study, play, and live like other children. They also warned that if the surgery is delayed or not performed, Yeasmin will continue to suffer from poor vision, which will seriously limit her education, her confidence, and her ability to lead an independent life. The treatment costs around BDT 45,000, which her family cannot afford. With the support of Helpster Charity and kind donors, Yeasmin has the chance to regain her sight and secure a hopeful future.
