Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Mary is the second-born of three children and is currently a Grade 3 pupil at a local primary school. She is a dedicated student who wakes up early to prepare for class and enjoys drawing. Mary dreams of becoming a teacher in the future. She has been diagnosed with sickle cell disease, moderate anemia, and severe pneumonia, and currently presents with a persistent productive cough, chest pain, fever, and fatigue. Her mother reports that Mary has experienced a loss of appetite, joint pains, and general weakness. She has been unable to attend school for the past three weeks due to the long distance of approximately 3 kilometers. A day before admission, Mary’s condition worsened, prompting her mother to bring her to the health center. They were initially unsure if treatment would be possible due to financial constraints. However, the facility in-charge referred them to a Helpster Charity volunteer, who connected them with the organization to receive the necessary care.

Medical history

She was diagnosed with severe pneumonia with moderate anaemia in sickle cell.she was given antibiotics and rehydrating fluids for 4 days in the ward on her discharge she was stable and appreciated Helpster Charity Organization for helping her get free treatment.

Prognosis

With timely and appropriate medical management, Mary’s condition is expected to improve gradually. Her pneumonia and anemia are treatable, and supportive care will help stabilize her sickle cell condition. However, due to the chronic nature of sickle cell disease, she will require continuous follow-up, adherence to medication, and nutritional support to prevent future crises and complications. If her treatment plan is followed and she receives regular medical reviews, her overall health and school attendance are likely to improve significantly over time.
