Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Japheth Onyango is an 8-year-old boy described by his mother as a joyful and humble child who enjoys playing with his friends. He dreams of becoming a teacher in the future. According to his mother, Japheth experienced three episodes of convulsions. Concerned about the seriousness of the condition, she rushed him to the hospital for medical evaluation.

Medical history

Japheth was brought to the facility after experiencing several episodes of convulsions. Upon arrival, the immediate priority was to control the seizures, and appropriate emergency management was initiated. The convulsions were successfully controlled, after which further evaluation was conducted to determine the underlying cause. Investigations confirmed that the seizures were secondary to malaria. He was therefore started on appropriate anti-malarial treatment, along with supportive oral and injectable medications, and was closely monitored throughout his admission. Japheth responded well to treatment, made a steady recovery, and was subsequently discharged home in stable condition. A follow up phone call confirmed that she was well

Prognosis

Prognosis of malaria is good since the child was rushed to the hospital where he has received the necessary treatment. The prognosis for most upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs) is excellent, as they are typically self-limiting and resolve completely within one to two weeks, though some symptoms like cough can persist longer. However, certain URTIs like epiglottitis carry a risk of serious complications and death, and individuals with compromised immune systems or specific health conditions may experience a more severe or prolonged course
