Gabriel Wambua is a 5-year-old orphan living in a children’s home that relies entirely on well-wishers for support. He was rescued from the streets of Nairobi by a well-wisher who later had to relocate, leading to Gabriel being placed at the Children’s Home. Gabriel enjoys watching movies, playing the guitar, and dreams of becoming a pilot in the future. He had been healthy until about 3 days ago when he developed fever that was more pronounced at night, headaches, nasal congestion, and experienced a convulsion. As his condition worsened, he was taken to Rheemah Hospital. A thorough examination was carried out by the medical officer.

Gabriel Wambua was admitted to Rheemah Hospital with a 3-day history of on-and-off fever (particularly at night), headache, nasal congestion, and a history of convulsions. Upon arrival, a thorough clinical evaluation was conducted by the attending medical officer. Based on the presenting symptoms and clinical findings, he was diagnosed with a systemic bacterial infection with febrile seizures likely secondary to the infection. Prompt treatment was initiated using Gentamycin, Paracetamol, and Benzyl Penicillin. Gabriel responded well to the medication and showed steady improvement throughout his stay in the facility. Gabriel was admitted for seven days in the facility and later discharged in a stable condition. Helpster cherity covered all his medical expenses. Follow up call later confirmed that gabriel was well and playing with the rest kids.

Gabriel’s prognosis is good with timely treatment, and he is expected to recover well under close medical supervision.
