Roycard Mukiti is a 2-year-old boy living at a Children’s Home in Nairobi. He is an orphan who was rescued from the streets of Nairobi by city police at the age of one and later placed at the home. The children’s home relies entirely on the support of well-wishers for food and other basic needs. Roycard is a cheerful child who enjoys playing football and watching cartoons with his friends. The home was introduced to Helpster Charity through a site visit by Rheemah medical practitioners, later facilitated by Vincent, a Helpster volunteer. Recently, Roycard developed a high fever accompanied by convulsions, a productive cough, cold sores on his nose, and wheezing. Diana, a volunteer at the children’s home, brought him to Rheemah Hospital for medical care. After assessment by the medical officer in charge, he was diagnosed with Acute Bronchiolitis and started on prompt treatment.

Roycard upon arrival to Rheemah Hospital presented with fever and convulsions as a result of high fever, cough productive, cold sores on the nose and wheezing. Thorough examination done by medical officer in charge and he was diagnosed with Acute Bronchitis. Prompt treatment was done by giving Predsol, srp,Brustan srp, Piriton Exp and Clavuline 228. Roycard drastically improved. Helpster charity covered his medical expenses thanks to this early intervention. A follow up call was made on 10th and confirmed that Roycard was doing well and back to joyful self.

Roycard’s prognosis is good. Treatment ensured faster relief of cough, fever, and breathing problems, lowers the risk of complications such as pneumonia, helps the child return to normal eating, sleeping, and play more quickly, supports healthy growth and development, and reduces stress and disruption for the family, resulting in an overall better quality of life.
