Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Ruth is a 3-year-old girl who is active and enjoys playing with her peers. Her mother, who supports the family through small-scale farming and casual jobs, hopes that Ruth will become a teacher in the future. Two days before visiting the hospital, Ruth developed a fever, cough, runny nose, and experienced a convulsion. Her mother initially gave her Panadol to relieve the symptoms. Since Ruth’s brother is already a beneficiary of Helpster Charity, her mother was aware of the support available and brought Ruth to the facility for medical assistance.

Medical history

Ruth was diagnosed with malaria, severe pneumonia and febrile convulsion. She was given antibiotics, anti malarial drugs and painkillers. She was stable and discharged after spending three days in the ward. Through phonecall checkup, helpster volunteer heard from Ruth's mother who was happy and joyful for the services given by helpster charity.

Prognosis

Ruth’s prognosis is good. After being diagnosed with severe malaria and severe pneumonia, she was promptly started on appropriate treatment. She has responded well, and with continued care and follow-up, she is expected to make a full recovery and return to her normal active self.
