Rafiatu is the last child among 4 children, she is 4 months old, growing happily with her parents. The father is a labourer and the mother is a wife without any business. It use to be difficult for them to eat. The rest of the children are not in school because there is no money to pay for their school fees. They live in a rented apartment with 2 rooms and a pit toilet separately. Their source of water is from the well, they partially have access to electricity. Rafiatu started having fever 4 days ago, eventually she started coughing and the body temperature keeps rising. No money for drugs or the chemist, the father was struggling to get money when he later heard about Helpster Charity, he sent the mother to bring Rafiatu to Albishir Clinic where she will be properly evaluated under the support of Helpster Charity. On presentation at our hospital, Rafiatu was evaluated and diagnosed with Respiratory Tract Infection.

Rafiatu is a one year old girl who was brought by her mother with diagnosis os Respiratory Tract Infection. She was admitted for three days and received injection antibiotics. When she improved, she was discharged home with syrup antibiotics and other medications. The mother was happy and grateful for the free medical treatment.

Most upper RTIs, such as the common cold or mild pharyngitis, resolve spontaneously within a week or two with minimal complications. Lower RTIs, like pneumonia or bronchitis, can carry higher risks, especially in infants, the elderly, and people with chronic illnesses or weakened immunity, where complications such as respiratory failure or sepsis may occur. With timely diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and supportive care, the majority of patients recover well, but delayed or inadequate management can lead to prolonged illness, hospitalizations, or even mortality in severe cases. Medication was appropriately given to Rafiatu to mitigate the infection, she's doing ok with the recovery.
