Zuwaira A., 21

Zuwaira is a cripple woman who uses crutches to walk. she's not gainfully employed. Husband is a security man in a small company who earns little to support the family. Zuwaira, a 21-year-old who is also cripple, presented with onset of labour-like pains. She had a Caesarean section for her last childbirth about 2 years ago. Upon presentation at our hospital, and after thorough examination and relevant investigations, her pelvis was found to be inadequate for safe vaginal delivery. Primary Diagnosis: Multigravida at term with one previous Caesarean section and inadequate pelvis.

Zuwaira was admitted in our facility where she was managed as a case of inadequate pelvis at term. She had cesarean section done where the baby was delivered successfully. Her postoperative period was satisfactory. She had proper wound care and appropriate antibiotics. She was later discharged home with her baby. She was very happy with helpster for helping her settle her bills.

For a woman to have a successfully vaginal delivery, one of the criterias to be met is the presence of adequate pelvis. Any woman who after examinations and investigations is found to have an inadequate pelvis, is a candidate for cesarean delivery because a trial of vaginal delivery will lead to a detrimental outcome for both the baby and mother. So for this woman, after thorough examination her pelvis was found to be inadequate therefore any attempt to vaginal delivery may be detrimental. Cesarean Section is the best approach to the delivery for the health of the mother and the baby.
