About nervous system
This is a case of hydrocephalus with spinal dysraphism. He has accumulation of brain fluid which has led to increase in the head size. There is also failure of his lower spinal cord and failure of spine to develop. Both conditions can affect his neurological functions. Such as, ability to learn and ability to work and control his urine and feaces.

Background
1month old Musa is the second child of the his family. He lives with his parents. His father an okada rider who does daily returns to the owner of the bike.He makes just enough for them to go by everyday and his mother a housewife. The child is faced with a condition that that if promptly attended to would give him a good chance at survival. When he was born, the child had myelomeningocele which ruptured almost immediately. The family did not notice any other abnormally until his hair was cut that the family observed the head looked bigger than normal. They rushed the child to our hospital, after proper evaluation and investigation a diagnosis of Hydrocephalus with Myelomeningocele was made. Requires urgent surgical intervention.
Medical history
The journey was tough, but with a successful shunt passage surgery, 14 days of antibiotics, and close monitoring, Suleiman's tiny body began to heal. The medical team worked tirelessly to save him, and his mother's prayers and care played a huge role in his recovery. When it was time to go home, Suleiman's mom was equipped with the knowledge and support she needed to care for her little warrior. She was counseled on how to manage his condition, and given clear instructions to bring him back if any symptoms arose. As Suleiman settled back into his routine, his medication – including Flagyl and other antibiotics – helped him continue his journey to full recovery. His mom's love and care, coupled with the medical team's expertise, gave Suleiman the best chance at a healthy life.
Prognosis
The doctor's opinion is that Musa Suleiman has lumbosacral myelomeningocele associated with hydrocephalus and bilateral clubfoot deformity (spina bifida with Chiari II malformation spectrum). The prognosis is favorable with early intervention, but the child is at risk of long-term complications, including motor weakness, urinary tract infections, orthopedic deformities, and shunt-related issues. Multidisciplinary care and parental counseling are essential to optimize outcome and support the family.
