Pansinusitis is the inflammation of all paranasal sinuses, leading to symptoms such as nasal blockage, headache, facial pain, and postnasal drip. It often results from chronic or recurrent infections and can significantly affect breathing and quality of life. DNS (Deviated Nasal Septum) refers to a displacement of the nasal septum, which can obstruct airflow and predispose patients to repeated sinus infections. HIT (Hypertrophy of Inferior Turbinate) means abnormal enlargement of the nasal turbinates, causing persistent nasal obstruction and difficulty in breathing. Synechia refers to adhesions inside the nasal cavity, usually forming after infection, surgery, or trauma, which further block airflow. Altogether, this combination of conditions severely compromises nasal function, making breathing difficult and increasing the risk of recurrent sinus problems.

Background
Twelve-year-old Aysha Siddika is a bright Madrasa student who dreams of becoming a teacher and loves drawing pictures. Her family of five struggles to survive on her father’s small income of only 7,000 BDT a month, leaving no room for costly medical care. For the past year, Aysha has endured constant nasal obstruction and severe headaches with vertigo, but her parents could not afford to take her to a doctor. Recently, with the help of Helpster, she was finally diagnosed and found to have serious sinus problems named pansinusitis that require urgent surgery. Without treatment, her condition will worsen, causing unbearable pain and stopping her from pursuing her studies, but with timely care she has the chance to live a healthy and normal life.
Medical history
Aysha Siddika had been suffering from nasal obstruction and frequent headaches for about one year, but her family could not afford to visit a specialist. Around a month ago, she came into contact with Bablu Abdullah, and explained her symptoms. With his recommendation, her father arranged a consultation with Dr. M. H. Rahman. On evaluation, imaging (e.g. CT scan) showed: Pansinusitis — mucosal thickening in both maxillary, ethmoid, sphenoid, and frontal sinuses. Bilateral osteomeatal complex obstruction (i.e. the drainage pathways of the sinuses were blocked on both sides). Given the severity and chronicity, Dr. Rahman advised surgical intervention. The family submitted all necessary documentation for financial assistance, and Aysha was admitted to Al Manar Hospital on 10 September 2025. On the same day, she underwent Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS). Her postoperative course was uneventful, and she was discharged in good health on 13 September 2025. Her uncle and mother came to the hospital for her discharge. The family expressed profound gratitude to Helpster, Al Manar Hospital, Dr. Shohidullah, and Bablu Abdullah for their help and support. Her father was particularly thankful for the financial aid provided by Helpster, which made the treatment possible.
Prognosis
he CT scan of the brain confirmed a diagnosis of pansinusitis with deviated nasal septum (DNS), hypertrophy of inferior turbinate (HIT), and synechia. Without proper treatment, the child will continue to suffer from severe nasal obstruction, recurrent infections, headaches, and breathing difficulties, which will prevent leading a normal life. The recommended treatment, Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS), is a safe and effective procedure to restore normal nasal function and relieve symptoms. With timely intervention, the child is expected to recover well and enjoy a healthy, normal life.
