Mathew comes from a family of eight. His parents rely on casual labor, earning an average of KES 200 per day, which is barely enough to afford one meal for the household. They live in a mud-walled house roofed with six iron sheets, located in a semi-swampy rural area. The family shares an open pit latrine with their neighbors. About a week ago, Mathew developed signs of illness, including generalized body swelling, poor feeding, weakness, skin rashes, and a dull facial appearance. He also presented with bilateral pitting edema - marked swelling in his feet and ankles - along with severe puffiness. With the help of the village administrator, Mathew was taken to the hospital, where he was assessed by the Helpster coordinator and enrolled for support. The attending doctor carried out an examination and requested further laboratory tests. He was later diagnosed with protein-energy malnutrition and admitted for treatment and ongoing management.

For the last one week,Mathew was suffering from protein energy multrition prior coming to the facility due to high poverty rate and illiteracy of the community, he was rescued by village administrator at their home having no plan to take the child to the hospital for medication, he facilitated them to the hospital. He went through physical examination and laboratory investigation and diagnosed with severe protein energy multrition was put on : i.v cef, hydrocortisone, vit A, ranferon, pcm and handed over to registered Nutritionist who started suppliment; F75 and F100 ,vit A,MBZ, and daily weighing for checking improvements. the child responded positively on medication and discharged when stable.

Since Mathew is now in a hospital receiving appropriate medical care, including supplement such as F75 and F100, vit A, MBZ, improved hygiene and monitoring, the prognosis is good. With continued treatment, infection control, and supportive care, the child is expected to recover soon.
