Korir is a two-year-old boy from a humble family that struggles to meet basic needs such as food, clothing, and healthcare. The family lives in a small, old house with limited space and amenities. Although their financial situation is challenging, the home is filled with love, care, and hope for a brighter future. After assessment, Korir was enrolled in Helpster Charity for medical assistance. He was brought to the hospital by his grandmother, who reported that he had ingested liquid paraffin. He was initially treated and discharged from a local clinic the same day. However, three days later, he developed difficulty in breathing, coughing, and a high fever. Upon examination and laboratory investigations at the hospital, Korir was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia and was admitted for further treatment and management.

Grandmother brought the child in the facility with complains of, cough, difficulty in breathing and high fever after three days of ingesting liquid paraffin . Based on examination and laboratory findings he was diagnosed with Aspiration pneumonia, was admitted for treatment and management after some days he responded well to medication and discharged on a stable condition.

Korir’s current illness - aspiration pneumonia following ingestion of liquid paraffin - is an acute condition, and his prognosis largely depends on how early and effectively treatment is initiated. Fortunately, he was brought to the hospital when symptoms worsened, allowing for timely diagnosis and admission. With appropriate antibiotics and close monitoring, most children with aspiration pneumonia show significant improvement within a few days. Because paraffin ingestion can irritate and damage the lungs, Korir may continue to experience coughing and mild breathing difficulty for several days to weeks, but these symptoms typically resolve with proper care. His prognosis is good, provided he completes the full course of treatment, receives proper hydration and nutrition, and is monitored for any complications such as worsening respiratory distress or secondary infections.
