Rashford W., 5

Rashford is a 5-year-old boy in PP2 at a local primary school. He lives with his parents and three siblings. His father, a carpenter, is the family’s sole provider, earning about Kshs 3,000, while his mother is a housewife. The family resides in a modest one-bedroom home with an iron sheet roof, mud walls, and a smeared floor. Rashford dreams of becoming an engineer and enjoys playing with other children his age. Recently, Rashford fell ill and had been unwell for one day, presenting with chest pain and a mild cough. Due to financial constraints, his parents were unable to seek hospital care. Fortunately, a community health promoter passing by on her way to a community dialogue found Rashford in a serious condition. Recognizing the urgency, and knowing about Helpster Charity Organization, she issued a referral form to the Helpster coordinator requesting free medical treatment. Upon admission to the hospital, doctors noted that Rashford had chest pain, high fever, persistent vomiting, and prostration. He was diagnosed with severe malaria complicated by pneumonia and admitted for further management.

Rashford was diagnosed with severe malaria with pneumonia he was admitted and was given antibiotics , antimalarial drugs and rehydrating fluids. As he started feeling better, he was discharged from the hospital to continue his treatment at home and also advised to continue staying safe and observe good hygiene and care. During the check-up call, the Helpster volunteer heard from Rashford 's mother that the boy is active and happy also he is back to his normal life. Rashford's mother says “I can’t describe just how worried I was when my son got sick, and wasn’t getting better as I was treating him with drugs from near by chemists. I would like to appreciate Helpster Charity on their support. Thank you.”

Rashford came to the facility when he was severely ill but on his arrival he was received and treatment commenced immediate,now his prognosis is good and responding positively.
