Background
Kulsum Akter, a 24-year-old mother-to-be, is a devoted and hardworking woman who enjoys caring for her family and managing household chores, even as she faces a high-risk pregnancy. She lives with her husband, a day laborer earning only 6,000 BDT a month, and their extended family of seven in a small tin-made house, leaving no means to afford the urgent medical care she needs. Her second pregnancy is complicated by oligohydramnios and fetal distress, making vaginal delivery extremely dangerous and putting both her and her baby at serious risk. Without an emergency cesarean section, she could suffer life-threatening complications such as uterine rupture or severe bleeding, while her baby could face oxygen deprivation, brain damage, or even death. This struggling family is desperately appealing for support to give Kulsum and her baby a safe chance at life and a healthy future.
Medical history
The patient, Kulsum akter was admitted to City Clinic on 14 September 2025. A successful cesarean section was performed the same day, and she delivered a healthy 2.5 kg male baby. Both mother and child progressed well and were discharged on 18th September 2025 with proper postnatal advice. The patient and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, the dedicated volunteers, and City Clinic for their kind support and care throughout the treatment
Prognosis
Doctors anticipate that performing an immediate cesarean section will significantly reduce the risks to both Kulsum Akter and her baby, ensuring a safe delivery and protecting the baby from oxygen deprivation and potential brain injury. The surgery will also prevent maternal complications, including uterine rupture and severe bleeding, which could be life-threatening if labor were allowed to continue. Without this intervention, the baby faces a high risk of stillbirth or long-term neurological damage, while the mother could experience serious health emergencies. Timely surgical treatment will allow both mother and child to recover fully and thrive, giving them the best possible outcome. This urgent care is critical to safeguarding their lives and future health.
