Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Md Hossain, a one-month-old adorable baby boy, is the beloved youngest member of a large, struggling family in Lakshmipur Sadar. He lives with his parents, two siblings, grandparents, and great-grandmother in a small tin-made house, where his father, Khorshed Alam, earns only 6,000 BDT a month as a day laborer, barely enough to cover food and basic needs for all eight family members. Born prematurely and recently diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, Md Hossain urgently needs Anti-VEGF injections to prevent permanent blindness. Without this treatment, his vision could be lost forever, impacting his entire future and daily life. His loving family is devastated but unable to afford the cost, desperately appealing for help so that little Md Hossain can see, grow, and enjoy a normal, bright childhood.
Medical history
Md Hossain, a 1-month-old infant, required urgent treatment for Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes to prevent further damage to his developing retina. He received Anti-VEGF injections administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist, to stop the abnormal blood vessel growth. The treatment progressed smoothly, and regular monitoring showed steady improvement. His retinal condition has become more stable, and the blood vessel growth is now under control, giving hope that he will be able to see clearly as he grows. Thanks to Helpster Charity and Helpster Heroes, he received timely care that is helping him regain healthy vision.
Prognosis
According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Md Hossain urgently requires Anti-VEGF injections in both eyes along with regular follow-up examinations. The doctors explained that with immediate treatment, there is a high chance of restoring and preserving his eyesight, allowing him to grow and develop normally. However, if treatment is delayed or not given, Hossain could permanently lose his vision at such a young age, leaving him blind for life. The total treatment cost is around BDT 20,000, which is far beyond the capacity of his poor family. With the kind support of Helpster Charity and generous donors, this little baby boy can be saved from a lifetime of blindness and given the gift of sight.
