Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections

Bronchopneumonia (also called lobular pneumonia) is a type of pneumonia characterized by inflammation and infection of the bronchioles and surrounding alveoli in the lungs. It typically affects patchy areas in one or more lobes of the lungs, rather than an entire lobe (as seen in lobar pneumonia). Acute bronchitis is a short-term inflammation of the bronchial tubes, which are the airways that carry air to and from your lungs.

Rheemah Hospital

Background

Gift Ambani is a 4-year-old cheerful girl who lives with her single mother in Mkuru kwa Njenga slums, Nairobi. She is the third child in the family, after two boys, and enjoys playing with toys and singing in church with other children. Gift had been healthy until three days ago, when she developed painful swallowing, fever, runny nose, mild cough, and difficulty breathing. Her mother, unable to afford medical fees, brought her to Rheemah Hospital. Helpster Volunteer Vincent connected them with Helpster Charity, providing relief and support. At Rheemah Hospital, a thorough examination by the medical officer revealed that Gift was suffering from severe tonsillitis and acute bronchitis.

Medical history

Gift Ambani had been well until three days prior to presentation, when she developed painful swallowing, difficulty in breathing (DIB), fever, runny nose, and a mild cough. As her condition worsened, she was brought to Rheemah Hospital by her mother for further evaluation. She was thoroughly assessed by the Medical Officer on duty and was diagnosed with severe tonsillitis and acute bronchitis. Prompt treatment was initiated, and she responded well with marked clinical improvement. Gift was discharged home on the same day in stable condition. A few days later, her mother reported that she had fully recovered, was smiling again, and had returned to her usual self.

Prognosis

Following prompt medical treatment for severe tonsillitis and acute bronchitis, Gift Ambani has shown significant improvement. She is will soon be clinically stable, able to swallow and breathe normally, and her fever and other symptoms will resolve with time.
