Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About bones & joints

Sadiya is experiencing severe pain and swelling in her right leg, which are significantly worsened by any attempt to walk. She is suffering from osteomyelitis, a serious bacterial infection that developed in her right tibia after an untreated injury. The infection has caused immense inflammation and pressure within the bone, leading to her debilitating pain and complete inability to bear weight. This chronic physical pain has led to several complications, including a recurrent fever, severe sleep deprivation, and a deep-seated anxiety about permanent disability. The untreated nature of the infection has allowed it to progress into this critical state, making immediate medical intervention essential.

Background

Most Sadiya Akter Lima, an 8-year-old girl known for her kindness and love of learning, dreams of becoming a doctor to help the poor, but now faces a serious challenge with osteomyelitis in her right leg. She and her family have no permanent home and live in extreme poverty, making it impossible to afford the urgent surgery, bone grafting, and treatment she needs. Despite her gentle and resilient nature, the severe pain and swelling have made walking difficult, threatening her mobility and daily life. Without immediate intervention, Lima risks permanent disability, which could shatter her dreams of becoming a healer. Her family, though deeply devoted to her, can only watch helplessly, praying for a chance to save their beloved daughter’s future.

Medical history

Mst. Sadiya Akter Lima had been suffering from severe pain and swelling in her right leg, which worsened during walking and caused significant anxiety about potential disability. Upon medical evaluation, she was diagnosed with osteomyelitis, a serious bone infection requiring prompt intervention. She was admitted to the hospital on 18.09.2025 for proper management. Her surgery was successfully performed on 19.09.2025 to remove the infected tissue and prevent further complications. Post-operatively, she received appropriate antibiotics, wound care, and physiotherapy support. Her condition improved steadily, and by 22.09.2025, she had recovered well enough to be safely discharged. She is now doing much better and regaining her mobility and confidence.

Prognosis

Lima, an 8-year-old girl, is suffering from osteomyelitis of the right tibia, causing severe pain and swelling in her leg. The condition has already started affecting her ability to walk, and she is anxious about becoming disabled. If left untreated, the bone infection will continue to progress, leading to further tissue damage, chronic pain, and eventual loss of mobility in the affected leg. However, if surgical debridement with grafting and repair of the infected bone is performed promptly, the infection can be controlled, the damaged bone can heal, and Lima can return to a normal, active childhood. Early surgical intervention is crucial to prevent permanent disability and restore her quality of life.
