Madhobi Rani is facing a serious health crisis in her third pregnancy. The primary issue is that her baby is in a transverse lie position, meaning it's positioned to come out feet or bottom-first instead of head-first. This is a significant problem because it makes a vaginal birth extremely dangerous for both her and the baby. A transverse lie presentation is a clinical term for when a baby is positioned feet-first or buttocks-first in the uterus, rather than the normal head-down position. This is considered a high-risk situation because it can lead to complications during delivery, such as the baby getting stuck, cord compression, or head entrapment. For Madhobi, a transverse lie position birth would be even more dangerous, putting her at high risk of a uterine rupture, severe bleeding, or a life-threatening emergency. Her intermittent abdominal pain is a warning sign, emphasizing the urgency of her condition and the critical need for a planned C-section to ensure a safe delivery.

Madhobi Rani, a 21-year-old woman with a gentle heart and unshakable resilience despite her congenital eye problem and speech impairment, lives in a tin-shed home with her husband, child, and elderly mother-in-law. Her husband earns only about 5,000 BDT a month as a day laborer, which barely meets the family’s food and basic needs, leaving no way to cover the urgent treatment costs. Now 32+ weeks pregnant with her third child, an ultrasound has revealed that the baby is in a transverse lie position, and with her history of two miscarriages, the risks are extremely high. Without proper medical intervention, both Madhobi and her unborn child face life-threatening complications during delivery. Yet, she continues to hold on to her dream of a safe birth and a hopeful future for her family, even as her circumstances make it nearly impossible.
Medical history
The patient, Madhobi admitted to City Clinic on 5th October 2025. A successful cesarean section was performed the same day, and she delivered a healthy 2.8 kg male baby. Both mother and child progressed well and were discharged on 9th October 2025 with proper postnatal advice. The patient and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, the dedicated volunteers, and City Clinic for their kind support and care throughout the treatment.
Prognosis
According to the doctor's prognosis, the planned C-section is the only safe path forward for Madhobi and her baby. The procedure will bypass the immense risks of a vaginal transverse birth, ensuring the baby is delivered safely and preventing life-threatening complications like uterine rupture or severe bleeding for Madhobi. Without this surgical intervention, the doctor predicts a high likelihood of a tragic outcome, with both Madhobi and her child facing the prospect of severe injury or even death. The C-section, while a major surgery, is a life-saving measure that offers the best chance for a healthy mother and a healthy baby, allowing them to finally begin their lives together as a family.
