Shima Akter, a 22-year-old housewife, is eagerly awaiting the birth of her second child, hoping for a safe delivery like her first. Her husband, Yusuf Sharif, works as a carpenter earning only 9,000 taka a month, barely enough to feed their five-member family living in a small tin house. Now at 41+ weeks of pregnancy, Shima is facing severe complications—her water has been leaking for days, the baby is large, and fetal distress has been detected, making normal delivery impossible. Without an urgent Caesarean section, both Shima’s life and her unborn child’s life are at grave risk, leaving her husband, their 7-year-old daughter Ayesha, and elderly in-laws fearing the worst. This family’s dreams of a brighter future could be shattered simply because they cannot afford the critical treatment she needs right now

After experiencing,leaky membrane and continued leak of amniotic fluid for 4 days and less fetal movement for 2 days without labour pain over 41+ weeks of her pregnancy , she arrived at our hospital at 10.0AM in 14 September 2025, where doctors performed an ultrasound and clinical examination that revealed Severe oligohydro amnions with big baby (CPD) with fetal distress , making vaginal delivery impossible. An emergency cesarean section was promptly arranged, and the procedure was successful, resulting in the birth of a beautiful male baby . Both the mother and the baby are safe and sound, with no complications arising from the surgery. We discharged the patient at 10.30AM in 17 September 2025.The patient's family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the hospital for their timely and effective care.

Given the patient's condition, the doctor's prognosis emphasizes the necessity of close monitoring and timely intervention to ensure a safe outcome. If the oligohydramnios is left unaddressed, the risk of the umbilical cord becoming compressed increases dramatically, which can cut off the baby's vital oxygen and nutrient supply and lead to fetal distress, brain damage, or even stillbirth. The doctor's treatment plan will likely involve careful fetal monitoring and a decision on the safest time and method of delivery, which, given the previous C-section, will likely be a planned cesarean section. By proceeding with a medically supervised delivery, the doctors can mitigate the risks associated with both the low amniotic fluid and the prior surgical history, leading to a much safer and healthier outcome for both the mother and the baby.
