Shanta Yeasmin, a 20-year-old mother and devoted housewife who loves cooking, dreams of giving birth to a healthy baby. She lives in a small tin-roofed house with her unemployed husband, who was earning only 8,000 BDT before losing his job, and four other family members, making it impossible to afford urgent medical care. Now pregnant with her first child, she is alarmed by the absence of fetal movement, and an ultrasound revealed a dangerously low fetal heart rate, signaling potential fetal distress. Without immediate medical attention and close monitoring, both Shanta and her baby are at serious risk of life-threatening complications. Her family is desperate and worried, unable to cover the cost, praying for help to save her and her unborn child.
Medical history
Shanta Yeasmin, a gynecology patient, was admitted on 23.09.2025 at 36 weeks of pregnancy with pain, complicated by a fetal distress. On 23.09.2025, she successfully underwent a cesarean operation and gave birth to a healthy baby. Both mother and baby remained stable and were discharged on 26.09.2025 with proper advice. The patient and her family expressed heartfelt gratitude to Helpster, the dedicated volunteers, Abdullah Hospital, and Dr. Nusaiba Tasnim for their kind support and excellent care throughout the process.
Prognosis
Shanta Yesmin, 23 years old and over 34 weeks pregnant, has undergone an ultrasound showing a fetal heart rate of less than 130 bpm and reduced fetal movements. While a heart rate below 130 can still be within the lower end of normal, it may also indicate possible fetal distress, especially when combined with decreased movement. The doctor would likely recommend close monitoring, such as a repeat ultrasound, non-stress test (NST), or biophysical profile (BPP), to assess fetal well-being. If signs of distress persist, early delivery may be considered for the safety of the baby. The prognosis depends on ongoing monitoring, but early detection and intervention generally improve outcomes.
