Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections
Severe pneumonia is an advanced stage of lung infection that occurs when vital organs like the heart or kidneys are at risk, or the lungs cannot absorb enough oxygen. It often requires hospitalization, intravenous antibiotics, and may necessitate intensive care, such as mechanical ventilation, to assist with breathing.

Background
Emmah comes from a humble family of eight and is a Form Three student at a local public day secondary school. Her mother, the sole provider, runs a small-scale vegetable business (“mama mboga”) at the local market, earning a modest income that is used to cover school fees and provide at least one meal a day. The family relies on stream water for drinking and domestic use and shares a pit latrine with neighbors. For the past three days, Emmah has been experiencing a cough accompanied by difficulty in breathing, chest pain, high fever, and headache. Following examination and laboratory investigations, she was diagnosed with severe pneumonia and admitted for treatment and management.
