When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About enteric fever
Enteric fever, commonly known as typhoid fever, is a systemic infection caused by Salmonella typhi or paratyphi and is transmitted through ingestion of food or water contaminated with fecal matter. It typically presents with prolonged high fever, headache, abdominal pain, malaise, loss of appetite, coated tongue, and variable bowel disturbances such as diarrhea or constipation, with some patients developing rose-spot rashes on the trunk. If untreated, it may lead to serious complications like intestinal perforation, hemorrhage, encephalopathy, or septicemia. Diagnosis is confirmed through blood, stool, or bone marrow cultures, while Widal test and other serological tests can support early suspicion. Management requires appropriate antibiotics, adequate hydration, nutritional support, and strict monitoring to prevent relapse or resistance. Preventive measures such as improved sanitation, safe drinking water, vaccination, and good personal hygiene remain key strategies in controlling the disease in endemic areas, Aisha presetented with fever, abdominal pain and vomiting everything.

Background
Aisha is a 5 year old girl living with parents, amidst the financial challenges, the parents are struggling to pay her schools. The father is a petty businessman and the mother is a house wife. The family are so happy living together and they show it even it in their smiles. Sometimes they struggle to eat. Aisha started having fever, abdominal pain, vomiting everything. Patient was apparently well until 10 days ago when she started having high-grade fever with associated headache, abdominal pain and vomiting not abating with home treatment. Because of her condition they couldn't take her to the hospital because of lack of finances, soon afterwards, they were referred to Helpster Charity program by a neighbor and they visited for proper evaluation. Upon presentation, and after thorough investigation she was diagnosed with enteric fever.
Medical history
When Aisha who is a 5 yo girl was brought to WholeCare hospital, she presented with high grade fever associated with severe abdominal pain and weakness of the body, she was admitted. She was diagnosed with severe enteric fever and treatments commenced with antibiotics and other supportive medications. She became stable, after some days and was discharged with some take home orals. The mother appreciates Helpster Charity for the support given.
Prognosis
Aisha prognosis is good given the early diagnosis of enteric fever and prompt initiation of antibiotic therapy with supportive care. Most patients recover fully under such management. Delayed or untreated cases may lead to complications such as intestinal perforation, hemorrhage, or prolonged carrier states, but with current treatment these risks are minimized. Aisha is expected to make a full recovery with adherence to therapy and follow-up.
