Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About enteric fever + malaria

Enteric fever and malaria are common tropical infections that often present with fever but differ in cause and features. Enteric fever, from Salmonella typhi or paratyphi, spreads through contaminated food or water and causes persistent fever, abdominal pain, weakness, and digestive problems. Malaria, caused by Plasmodium parasites transmitted by Anopheles mosquitoes, produces cyclical fever, chills, sweating, headache, and anemia, with severe cases affecting organs.

Medical history

Hafsat a 5 years old girl presented with fever, ill looking with associated headache and abdominal pain. She was admitted and diagnosed with enteric fever when treatment commenced with injection antibiotics and other supportive care. She became stable and was discharged with some take home orals, and was scheduled for follow up in a week time. They remined thankful to Helpster Chsrity for the medical support they recieved.

Prognosis

The prognosis of enteric fever and malaria is generally good with early diagnosis and proper treatment, as most patients recover fully. Malaria, especially Plasmodium falciparum, can be life-threatening if untreated, leading to severe anemia, coma, or organ failure. Enteric fever also carries risks like intestinal perforation or bleeding when care is delayed. With prompt use of antibiotics for enteric fever and antimalarials for malaria, along with supportive management, outcomes are usually favorable. For Hafsat, adequate treatment was made and patient is doing well on the medications.
