Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections

Severe pneumonia is a serious lung infection that causes dangerous difficulty in breathing and low oxygen levels, requiring urgent medical care. It is an emergency condition because the infection can quickly lead to respiratory failure and death if not treated promptly. Bacterial sepsis is a life-threatening condition that occurs when a bacterial infection spreads into the bloodstream and triggers a severe body-wide response. Sepsis is a medical emergency and can rapidly progress to septic shock, multiple organ failure, and death without immediate treatment.

Background

Brian is a cheerful boy who loves playing with his pets, enjoys eating cakes, and drinking yoghurt. He dreams of becoming a farmer in the future, just like those he admires in his community. He was brought to the hospital after experiencing repeated convulsions lasting more than three seconds, accompanied by high fever. According to his mother, Sylvia, she had initially purchased medication from a local chemist due to lack of funds to take him to a proper hospital. Despite this, Brian’s condition continued to worsen, with the convulsions becoming more frequent and severe. Overwhelmed with fear and concern, Sylvia sought help from their pastor, who introduced her to Helpster Charity. Grateful and hopeful, she brought Brian to God’s Favor Hospital seeking assistance from Helpster Charity to help save her son’s life.

Medical history

Brian was diagnosed with pneumonia and sepsis, he spent two days in the hospital, he was given antibiotics, anticonvulsants and antihistamine. Brian condition subsided gradually, his fever and convulsions was no more in the second day, Brian was able to get back to his daily normal activities without any pain or discomfort. His mother was very happy as she imagined how worried she wàs since the beginning of her son's illness and now he is back again strong and happy. They were discharged from the hospital to go and continue with the oral medication upto five days,

Prognosis

With the diagnosis of severe pneumonia complicated by bacterial sepsis, Brian was critically ill at the time of admission. However, with the timely initiation of appropriate antibiotics, supportive care, and continuous monitoring, his outlook is positive. Children who receive early and adequate treatment for these conditions often show significant improvement within a few days. Brian will respond well to treatment as his vital signs have already begun improving, and his fever and breathing difficulties are slowly resolving. He is expected to make a full recovery.
