Nur Nobi has been suffering from Peri-tonsillar Abscess from last five months. The problem of Peri-tonsillar Abscess stems from recurring inflammation of the tonsils, leading to symptoms like sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and fever. Complications can include recurrent Tonsilitis (pus-filled pockets behind the tonsils), obstructive sleep apnea due to enlarged tonsils, and tonsil stones.

Background
Md. Nur Nobi Mia is a bright and humble 14-year-old boy who loves studying and dreams of becoming an educated, kind-hearted person to help his struggling family. His father, a poor farmer earning only 8,000 BDT a month, supports six family members, often struggling to afford even basic needs. Recently, Nur Nobi has been suffering from a peritonsillar abscess with severe sore throat, fever, and episodes of apnea, making it difficult for him to eat or sleep. Despite his pain, he tried to continue going to school, hiding his illness so his parents wouldn’t worry. Now, his condition has worsened, and without surgery, the infection could spread and lead to life-threatening complications — but the poor family has no means to pay for his urgent treatment.
Medical history
Md Nur Nobi Mia was admitted to the hospital on October 16, 2025, with a diagnosis of peritonsillar abscess. On the same day, the attending doctor performed a tonsillectomy. After receiving appropriate postoperative care, he recovered well and was discharged in good health on October 19, 2025. His father and mother came to the hospital to receive him at the time of discharge. The family expressed their sincere gratitude to Helpster, Jamuna Clinic, and Md Abdullah Miah for their treatment, care, and support. His father was especially thankful to Helpster for the financial assistance provided during his son’s treatment.
Prognosis
The doctor explained that drainage of abscess surgical removal of the both tonsils (tonsillectomy) under general anesthesia will relieve Nur Nobi from repeated throat infections, fever, and swallowing difficulties, allowing him to regain a normal quality of life. Successful treatment will also prevent frequent absences from work and reduce the financial burden of repeated medications. If left untreated, his condition may progress to serious complications such as peritonsillar abscess, obstructive sleep apnea, or chronic infection that can further weaken his health. Early surgery is therefore strongly advised to ensure long-term recovery and prevent life-threatening complications.
