Taifa Islam, a fragile 1-month-old premature baby girl, lives in a small tin-made house with her parents, two school-going siblings, and her ailing grandmother, all relying on her father’s meager 8,000 Taka monthly income from construction labor. Despite her sweet and resilient nature, Taifa’s health has been fragile since birth, with congenital pneumonia and jaundice requiring intensive NICU care that left her family financially strained and indebted. Doctors have now diagnosed her with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, putting her vision at serious risk and requiring urgent Anti-VEGF injections costing 18,000 Taka—far beyond what her struggling parents can afford. Without this treatment, Taifa faces permanent blindness, robbing her of the chance to see the world and pursue a bright future like her siblings. Her family is desperately appealing for support to save their little girl’s eyesight and give her the chance to grow up healthy and happy.

Taifa Islam, a 1-month-old infant, was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that required immediate medical attention to prevent vision loss. To control the abnormal retinal blood vessel growth, Anti-VEGF injections were administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment process was conducted carefully with close follow-up and monitoring. Taifa responded well to the therapy, and gradual improvement was observed during subsequent examinations. The growth of the blood vessels is now under control, and her retinal condition has stabilized. With continued observation and care, there is strong hope that she will develop clear vision as she grows. If treated promptly, the injections will stop the abnormal blood vessel growth in her retina, protecting her vision and giving her the chance to grow up seeing the colorful world around her. However, if left untreated, Taifa will face total and irreversible blindness, losing the opportunity for education, independence, and a normal future. With proper treatment, she can be saved from this darkness.
