Lucky Akter, now 35+ weeks pregnant, is in a critical condition due to severe oligohydramnios, meaning the amniotic fluid protecting her baby has dropped to a dangerously low level. The presence of meconium-stained fluid shows the baby is already stressed and at risk of serious complications. Her cervix remains closed despite ongoing abdominal pain, leaving no safe pathway for a normal delivery. Without urgent medical intervention, the baby could inhale the meconium and face life-threatening breathing problems after birth.

Background
Lucky Aktar, an 18-year-old pregnant woman, lives with her husband Sahin, a daily wage laborer who earns only 8,000 taka per month, along with her mother-in-law Shahida and father-in-law Babul. The family struggles to manage their household needs with this income, making medical expenses difficult to afford. Lucky’s pregnancy had been normal, but at 35+ weeks she developed severe lower abdominal pain, and the hospital evaluation showed meconium-stained amniotic fluid and a closed cervix—signs that the baby was in serious distress. Doctors advised an immediate caesarean section to save the baby, a cost the family is unable to cover. Without this treatment, both Lucky and her unborn child face significant health risks.
Medical history
After experiencing,severe lower abdominal pain for more than 20+ hours without cervical opening over 35+ wks of pregnancy, she arrived at our hospital at 8.0PM in 19 September 2025 and doctors performed an ultrasound that revealed meconium stained amniotic fluid with severe fetal distress , making vaginal delivery impossible. An emergency cesarean section was promptly arranged, and the procedure was successful, resulting in the birth of a beautiful male baby. Both the mother and the baby are safe and sound, with no complications arising from the surgery. We discharged the patient at 10.30AM in 22 September 2025.The patient's family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the hospital for their timely and effective care.
Prognosis
Based on the critical diagnosis, the doctor's prognosis is that an immediate cesarean section is a life-saving intervention for both the mother and baby. The presence of severe oligohydramnios, fetal distress, and meconium staining indicates the baby is in immediate danger. Without urgent treatment, the baby is at a high risk of inhaling the meconium, leading to a severe and potentially fatal condition called Meconium Aspiration Syndrome, which can cause lifelong respiratory problems or death. The prompt surgical delivery will bypass the dangers of a vaginal birth in this scenario, providing the best chance for the baby to be born safely and for the mother to avoid severe complications, thus securing a positive outcome and ensuring the baby's future health.
