Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Lamia Akter, a 19-year-old housewife who loves cooking, dreams of a happy life with her husband Abdullah and their future children, living with her in-laws and brother-in-law in a small household. The family survives on Abdullah’s meager monthly income of 8,000 BDT from river fishing, making it nearly impossible to cover urgent medical expenses. At 38+ weeks of her first pregnancy, Lamia went into labour at home, but after more than 24 hours of painful contractions, the delivery was not progressing. An ultrasound at the hospital revealed obstructed labour with fetal distress, and the doctor recommended an immediate cesarean section to save both her and the baby’s lives. Without timely surgical intervention, Lamia and her unborn child could face life-threatening complications, making urgent medical care critical for their survival.

Medical history

After experiencing labour pain for more than 24 hours with failed home trial over 37 weeks of her pregnancy , she arrived at our hospital at 7.00AM in 18 September 2025, where doctors performed an ultrasound and clinical examination that revealed obstructed labour with fetal distress , making vaginal delivery impossible. An emergency cesarean section was promptly arranged, and the procedure was successful, resulting in the birth of a beautiful baby girl. Both the mother and the baby are safe and sound, with no complications arising from the surgery. We discharged the patient at 10.30AM in 21 September 2025.The patient's family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the hospital for their timely and effective care.

Prognosis

Given the patient's condition, doctor diagnosed this case as an obstructed labour with fetal distress. the doctor's prognosis emphasizes the necessity of close monitoring and timely intervention to ensure a safe outcome. If obstructed labour left untreated, that leads to brain damage, or even stillbirth of the baby as well as death of mother. The doctor's treatment plan will likely involve careful fetal monitoring and a decision on the safest time and method of delivery and this plan is to do immediate caesarean section operation .
