Breech presentation is a condition in which the fetus is positioned with the lower extremities or pelvis presenting first at the uterine opening, rather than the head. When this is combined with lower abdominal pain for 2 days which may cause neonatal mortality or still birth or uterine rupture if a timely cesarean section is not performed.

Background
Tania Begum, a 25-year-old housewife who loves cooking, dreams of a happy life with her husband Rabbi and their daughter Muskan, living modestly on Rabbi’s monthly income of 8,000 BDT from river fishing. The family struggles to cover daily expenses, making it nearly impossible to afford urgent medical care. At 37+ weeks of her second pregnancy, Tania experienced lower abdominal pain and came to the hospital, where an ultrasound revealed a breech presentation. The doctor recommended an immediate cesarean section to safely deliver her baby. Without timely surgery, both Tania and her unborn child could face serious, life-threatening complications, making urgent medical intervention critical for their survival.
Medical history
After experiencing, lower abdominal pain for 2 days over 37+weeks of her pregnancy , she arrived at our hospital at 1.00PM in 23th September 2025, where doctors performed an ultrasound and clinical examination that revealed breech presentation with fetal distress with previous history of caesarean section , making vaginal delivery impossible. An emergency cesarean section was promptly arranged, and the procedure was successful, resulting in the birth of a beautiful female baby . Both the mother and the baby are safe and sound, with no complications arising from the surgery. We discharged the patient at 10.30AM in 26th September 2025.The patient's family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Helpster Heroes and the hospital for their timely and effective care.
Prognosis
The doctor recommends a timely cesarean section to safely deliver the baby and minimize risks to both mother and child. With this planned surgical intervention and close fetal monitoring, Tania’s baby can avoid complications such as fetal distress, shoulder dystocia, or brain injury, while the mother is protected from severe bleeding, uterine rupture, or other life-threatening complications. The procedure ensures a controlled and safe delivery, especially given her prior cesarean history and the breech presentation. If left untreated or delayed, both mother and baby could face serious, potentially fatal outcomes. Timely, medically supervised delivery is therefore crucial to secure a healthy future for both.
