Background
Little Md Sadman Islam, a 14-month-old boy from a small village in Bangladesh, was born with a swelling on the mid-scalp and often feels heat on his head. He lives with his parents and grandparents in a tiny home, and his father’s monthly income of 6,500 BDT is the only source of support for seven family members. His parents dream of seeing him grow up educated and healthy, but the cost of surgical removal of the dermoid cyst is far beyond their means. Without treatment, the cyst could become infected, rupture, or even affect his brain and nervous system, putting his life at serious risk. Despite the family’s love and care, Sadman’s bright future is in danger unless he receives urgent medical attention.
Medical history
A patient named Sadman Islam came to our hospital on September 24, 2025. He is one year old and looks very adorable. There was a painful tumor on his head. His father is very poor and earns a living by selling goods in different markets. We arranged for the child to see a doctor, and following the doctor’s advice, we admitted him to the hospital. On the very day of admission, the child underwent surgery on his head. After the operation, he is now in good health. His parents are relieved from their worries. They are very happy that their child received treatment completely free of cost. We wish the child a bright future ahead.
Prognosis
The recommended treatment for Md Sadman Islam’s scalp dermoid cyst is surgical excision under general anesthesia. If the cyst is removed promptly, the child can expect a full recovery with minimal risk of complications, allowing normal growth and development.
