Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About infections

Amoebic dysentery is an infection with Entamoeba histolytica that can cause severe diarrhea with blood and mucus, leading to dehydration. Symptoms of dehydration include a dry mouth, less frequent urination, and dizziness, requiring immediate medical attention. Treatment involves antimicrobial drugs like metronidazole, along with supportive care to restore fluids, often through oral rehydration solutions or, in severe cases, intravenous (IV) drips.

Background

Abiud is a 14-year-old boy in grade four at a local primary school. He is a bright and hardworking pupil who dreams of becoming a doctor one day. He lives with his grandmother, who is the family’s sole provider. She relies on small-scale farming and earns a living by selling assorted vegetables. Abiud developed a gradual onset of generalized abdominal pain accompanied by rumbling, followed by persistent mucoid and blood-stained diarrhea, vomiting, body weakness, and high fever. His grandmother mentioned that she had given him Flagyl two days earlier after he complained of abdominal discomfort, but his condition did not improve. She later brought him to the hospital, having previously benefited from Helpster Charity’s support. With her hope renewed, Helpster Charity assessed and enrolled Abiud, enabling him to receive free medical treatment.

Medical history

Abiud was diagnosed with amoebic dysentery with dehydration, was treated with antibiotics and rehydrating fluids later was discharged when he was stable and acknowledged Helpster Charity Organization with Bulondo health centre being there for him to get best and free medical treatment after loosing hope because of financial reasons.

Prognosis

Abiud’s prognosis is good. He responded well to treatment, with a marked reduction in diarrhea, abdominal pain, and fever. His appetite and strength have started to improve, and he is now more active and comfortable. With continued adherence to medication and proper follow-up, full recovery is expected.
