Baby Sidratul Muntaha, a fragile one-month-old premature baby girl and one of twin babies, was born at just 30 weeks weighing only 1.6 kilograms and had to receive high-flow oxygen and NICU care to survive. She lives with her devoted mother Tania Begum, hardworking father Md. Sharif, and elderly grandparents Abdul Haque Hawlader and Ayesha Begum, who are unable to work, in a small tin-shed house in Chandpur Sadar. Recently, Sidratul was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a serious condition that could lead to permanent blindness without urgent Anti-VEGF injections. With the father’s modest farming income of 8,000 Taka per month barely covering daily needs, the family cannot afford this life-saving treatment. Without immediate intervention, Sidratul risks losing her eyesight forever, and the family has turned to Helpster Charity for support to give their little girl a chance at a healthy, bright future.

Sidratul Muntaha, a 1-month-old baby girl, was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that required urgent medical attention to prevent possible vision loss. To control the abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels, Anti-VEGF injections were administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The treatment was carried out carefully, and her condition was closely monitored during follow-up visits. Sidratul responded well to the injections and showed steady improvement. The growth of abnormal blood vessels is now under control, and her retinal condition has improved. With continued observation and care, doctors are hopeful that she will develop clear vision as she grows. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, baby Sidratul’s condition is critical but fully treatable with immediate Anti-VEGF (Avastin) injections in both eyes followed by regular retinal follow-ups. The doctors are optimistic that with prompt treatment, Sidratul’s vision can be completely restored, allowing her to develop normally and live a full, sighted life. However, any delay or lack of treatment will lead to severe and irreversible blindness, leaving her dependent for life. The estimated cost for the treatment and necessary follow-ups is BDT 18,000, which is far beyond what her poor family can afford.
