Little Madiha Noor, a fragile one-month-old premature baby girl born at just 30 weeks and weighing only 900 grams, has already shown a remarkable will to survive despite severe breathing difficulties at birth that required NICU care and high-flow oxygen. She lives with her devoted parents, Mizan and Morium Begum, her elder brother Abdul Mazid, and younger sister Miftahul Jannat in a small tin house in Raipur, Lakshmipur, where daily life is a constant struggle and basic necessities are limited. Recently, Madiha was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a serious condition that could lead to permanent blindness without urgent Anti-VEGF injections and follow-up care. With her father earning only 6,000 Taka per month, the family cannot afford the 18,000 Taka needed for treatment, leaving Madiha at grave risk of losing her vision forever. Desperate to save their little girl’s sight and future, the family has turned to Helpster Charity for life-saving support.

Madiha Noor, a 1-month-old baby girl, was diagnosed with Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) in both eyes, a condition that required urgent treatment to prevent possible vision loss. To stop the abnormal growth of retinal blood vessels, Anti-VEGF injections were administered by Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, the hospital’s ROP Specialist. The procedure was carried out carefully, and her condition was closely monitored afterward. Madiha responded well to the treatment, and gradual improvement was observed during follow-up examinations. The growth of abnormal blood vessels is now under control, and her retinal condition has improved. Doctors remain hopeful that she will develop clear vision as she grows. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, ROP Specialist at Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, Madiha’s condition is treatable if immediate medical intervention is provided. The doctors recommend administering Anti-VEGF (Avastin) injections in both eyes along with regular follow-up eye examinations to monitor the retina’s progress. They are confident that, with timely treatment, Madiha’s vision can be preserved and she can grow up with normal eyesight, attending school and leading a happy, fulfilling life. However, if the treatment is delayed or left incomplete, the disease will progress rapidly, leading to permanent blindness. The total cost of the procedure and follow-ups, estimated at BDT 18,000, is far beyond what her father’s small hotel income can support.
