Little Aronna Das, a bright and affectionate one-year-old boy, is loved deeply by his parents and sisters, yet his world is fading as congenital cataracts slowly steal his vision. His father, Jagannath, earns only 6,500 Taka a month as a street hawker, barely enough to feed their family of six living in a small tin-roofed house with their grandmother, making the cost of surgery far beyond their reach. Despite their struggles, the family is warm, hopeful, and determined, but Aronna’s worsening blindness has filled their home with fear and heartbreak. Doctors have warned that without urgent cataract surgery in both eyes, Aronna may lose his vision forever, never able to see his parents’ faces, his sisters' smiles, or the world around him. This treatment is the only chance to save his sight and his future, which is why the family desperately seeks help before it is too late.

Aronna Das, a 1-year-old child, required urgent cataract surgery in the right eye as the condition was significantly affecting vision development at this early age. The surgery was performed under general anesthesia by Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sk, Chief Consultant of the Hospital, ensuring the child’s comfort and safety throughout the procedure. According to Dr. Md. Anwar Hossain Sheikh, Chief Consultant, and Dr. Md. Rashedur Rahman Talukder, Senior Consultant of Mazharul Haque BNSB Eye Hospital, Chandpur, baby Aronna Das requires immediate bilateral cataract surgery under general anesthesia and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. The doctors have explained that if surgery is done promptly, there is a very high chance of restoring his vision and allowing his eyes and brain to develop normal visual function. After surgery, with proper post-operative care and follow-up, Aronna will be able to see the world clearly — to play, learn, and grow like any other child. However, if the surgery is delayed or left undone, the lens opacity will permanently damage his vision, and he will face lifelong blindness. The doctors strongly recommend immediate intervention to prevent irreversible loss of sight.
