Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Habiba Akter, a bright and gentle 5-year-old girl, lives in a small tin-shade home with her parents, grandparents, and her elder brother Hamidullah. Her father earns only 9,000 BDT a month, barely enough to feed the six family members, leaving them unable to afford Habiba’s urgent treatment cost of 87,269 BDT. Despite her cheerful spirit and playful bond with her brother, the painful swelling on the left side of her mouth makes it hard for her to eat or smile. Without surgery, the Lymphangioma may grow larger, causing severe pain, disfigurement, and even life-threatening complications. This loving family, who cherishes Habiba’s warmth and innocence, fears losing her joy forever if she cannot receive the care she desperately needs.

Medical history

Habiba’s journey has been filled with courage and hope. From the painful swelling that made every bite difficult to the uncertainty her family faced, each day was a struggle. With Helpster Charity’s support, she received life-changing treatment at Olympus Hospital. Small victories like her first smile without pain and her ability to eat comfortably brought immense relief to her family. Today, Habiba’s laughter and energy shine brighter than ever, giving her family renewed hope and joy for the future.

Prognosis

The doctors at Olympus Hospital explained that Habiba’s condition, Left Sided Parotid Lymphangioma, is treatable with a Parotidectomy and Lymphangioma Excision. With timely surgery and proper follow-up care, she is expected to make a full recovery, free from pain and able to enjoy her childhood activities again. Early intervention is vital, as delaying treatment may lead to worsening swelling, persistent pain, facial disfigurement, and potentially life-threatening complications. The prognosis is very positive if she receives surgery now, offering her the chance to grow up healthy and carefree. Without treatment, however, her condition will continue to progress, robbing her of the simple joys of childhood.
