Background
Most Mukti, an 18-year-old girl full of creativity and joy, dreams of building her own home and filling it with warmth and personal touches. She lives with her family in a crowded rental house, and their meager monthly income of just 5,000 BDT makes the urgent medical care she needs completely unaffordable. At 35 weeks of pregnancy, Mukti suffers from severe anemia and fetal distress, putting both her life and her baby’s life at serious risk. Without timely treatment, she could face life-threatening complications, including extreme weakness, hemorrhage, or harm to her unborn child. Despite her positive spirit and determination, Mukti and her family desperately need support to ensure the safety of mother and baby.
Medical history
Mukti was admitted to the hospital on 20.09.2025 with severe anemia and fetal distress. Upon admission, she was transfused with 2250 ml of blood to stabilize her condition and was placed under continuous oxygen supply to support her breathing and overall health. Once her condition was stabilized, a cesarean section was successfully performed on 22.09.2025, ensuring the safety of both Mukti and her baby. After the surgery, she received close post-operative care, including monitoring, medication, and rest, which helped her recover steadily. Both mother and baby responded well to the treatment, and Mukti was discharged in good health on 25.09.2025, able to care for her newborn and resume her daily life.
Prognosis
Mukti’s severe anemia and fetal distress make her pregnancy high-risk, requiring immediate medical intervention. The recommended treatment is a cesarean section, which allows for prompt and safe delivery while minimizing risks to both mother and baby. With this procedure, along with proper management of her anemia, Mukti can regain her strength, and the baby can avoid dangers such as oxygen deprivation, growth restriction, or other complications. If left untreated, both mother and child face life-threatening risks, including maternal hemorrhage, organ failure, or stillbirth. Timely cesarean delivery is therefore crucial to safeguard the lives and health of both Mukti and her unborn child.
