Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

About malaria + enteric fever

Malaria and enteric fever are common infectious diseases in tropical regions, both presenting with fever but arising from different causes. Malaria, spread by Anopheles mosquitoes carrying Plasmodium parasites, is marked by cyclical fever, chills, sweating, headache, and anemia, with severe cases leading to organ complications. Enteric fever, caused by Salmonella typhi or paratyphi through contaminated food or water, presents with persistent fever, abdominal pain, weakness, and digestive disturbances. Accurate diagnosis and prompt treatment with antimalarials or antibiotics are essential to prevent serious outcomes.

Background

David is 5 years old, the 1st child of his parents, his parents are very happy having him in their lives, the mother is a petty trader and the father is not currently having a job, the mother is expecting another child and she worries that David has been falling sick lately and no money to take him to the hospital. David started having fever, catarrh, watery stool, poor appetite, headache, abdominal pain and body weakness. The mother gave him paracetamol syrup but nothing changed in his health condition as the illness continues. A neighbor informed them about Helpster Charity and they visited Albishir for medical checkup. On presentation at our hospital, and after further clinical evaluation, he was diagnosed with malaria and enteric fever.

Medical history

David a 5 years old boy was admitted to Albishir facility with symptoms of malaria, lab tests were carried out and results revealed malaria and enteric fever. The doctor made diagnoses of malaria and enteric fever where injection antimalarial, injection antibiotics and other supportive care was served. When patient became stable he was discharged with take home orals and a schedule of follow up was made.

Prognosis

The prognosis of malaria and enteric fever is good when diagnosed early and treated promptly with the right medications. Malaria can resolve completely with effective antimalarial therapy, but delayed treatment—especially in Plasmodium falciparum infection—may lead to severe anemia, coma, or organ failure. Enteric fever also responds well to antibiotics, though untreated or resistant cases risk complications like intestinal perforation, bleeding, or prolonged illness. With timely care, most patients make a full recovery.
