About pathology
Shanta Islam Mim has been diagnosed with a giant lipoma on the left upper back of her chest. A lipoma is a non-cancerous growth of fatty tissue, but in her case, it has grown large in size, causing significant pain and discomfort. The swelling is putting pressure on nearby muscles and nerves, which is affecting her movement, sleep, and daily activities. Although not cancerous, it requires surgical removal to relieve symptoms and prevent further complications.

Background
Shanta Islam Meem is a gentle and resilient 20-year-old housewife who lives with her husband, young child, and elderly in-laws, all dependent on her husband’s daily wage income of around 8000 BDT. With no land or savings and her father-in-law being elderly and disabled, the family struggles to meet even their basic needs, making it impossible to afford the surgery she now urgently requires. Despite her strength and dedication to her family, Shanta has been suffering from a large recurrent tumor (giant lipoma) on her back, causing severe pain, sleeplessness, and difficulty in carrying out daily activities. If left untreated, the tumor may grow further, leading to increased complications by pressing on nerves and muscles, severely affecting her mobility and quality of life. The family came to know about Helpster Charity through volunteer Md. Shahiduzzaman Sohel and is now seeking support to ensure timely treatment and recovery.
Medical history
Shanta Islam Mim was admitted to Jhalakathi Model Clinic on 23.10.2025, where she underwent successful surgical excision of a giant lipoma under proper medical supervision. The operation was completed safely, and the tumor was removed effectively, providing relief from her long-standing pain and discomfort. She received appropriate post-operative care, medications, and monitoring, and was discharged in stable and improved condition on 26.10.2025 . Shanta and her family expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Helpster Charity and its dedicated volunteers, especially Md. Shahiduzzaman Sohel, for their timely financial and emotional support. They also sincerely thanked the doctors and medical staff of Jhalakathi Model Clinic for their compassionate care and successful treatment, which has given her a new chance at a healthy and pain-free life.
Prognosis
With surgical excision of the lipoma under general anesthesia, Shanta is expected to experience significant relief from pain and discomfort, allowing her to return to normal daily activities. Removal of the tumor will reduce pressure on surrounding muscles and nerves, improving her mobility, sleep, and overall quality of life. With proper post-operative care, the chances of full recovery are high, and she can resume her role within the family without limitations. However, if left untreated, the lipoma may continue to grow larger, causing increased pain and compression of nerves and surrounding tissues. In advanced stages, it may involve nearby blood vessels, potentially leading to serious complications and becoming life-threatening.
