A deep cut wound is a laceration that penetrates through the layers of skin, potentially damaging underlying tendons, muscles, ligaments, nerves, blood vessels, or bone. These injuries often have jagged edges, may bleed profusely, and can be caused by tools, knives, or other sharp objects while a bruise is a type of closed wound where damage to blood vessels under the skin causes bleeding and discoloration, but the skin itself remains intact. When an injury occurs, such as a bump or fall, small blood vessels break, and blood leaks into the surrounding tissues, creating the purple, black, or bluish mark of a bruise.

Background
Diana’s background illustrates the challenges faced by families living below the poverty line. Her family’s income was far below the national average, limiting access to proper nutrition, healthcare, and education. Growing up in poverty greatly influenced her outlook on life and strengthened her resilience. While returning home from school, Diana was involved in a road traffic accident and sustained a deep cut on her upper lip, bruises on her face, knees, and arm, and complained of severe chest pain. She was brought to the facility unconscious by an unidentified person. Upon arrival at the emergency unit, she was promptly examined, and treatment was initiated. Her wounds were cleaned, stitched, and dressed, and she was diagnosed with a mild head injury before being admitted for further care and management.
Medical history
Diana was brought to the facility unconscious by an unidentified person after being involved in a road traffic accident on her way home from school. She sustained a deep cut on her upper lip, bruises on her knees, face, and arm, and complained of severe chest pain. Her wounds were cleaned, stitched, and dressed. She was admitted for further treatment and management, where she received appropriate pain relief, antibiotics, and wound care. Diana responded well to treatment and was discharged in stable condition.
Prognosis
Diana's prognosis is good. She is stable and doing well following prompt cleaning, stitching, dressing and drugs given for treatment. With wound care, hygiene and observing doctors prescription, she is expected to recover fully without any complications and resume her normal activities including attending classes in school.
