Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Seventeen-year-old Farzana Khatun, a bright and dedicated college student, has been battling severe abdominal pain, fever, and nausea for two days, and doctors have confirmed she urgently needs treatment for appendicitis. Her family lives in a small tin-made house with five members, relying solely on her father’s modest income of around 6,000 BDT from farming, which is barely enough for food and daily essentials, leaving no savings for medical emergencies. Despite her pain, Farzana is determined to recover quickly so she can return to her studies and continue pursuing her dreams. Doctors warned that if her appendicitis is left untreated, it could burst and lead to life-threatening complications, putting her future—and even her life—at serious risk. Knowing they cannot afford the surgery, the family reached out to Helpster Charity through a nurse at Mother Clinic, hoping for support before it becomes too late.

Medical history

Mst Farzana Khatun was admitted to the hospital on September 30, 2025, with right sided abdominal pain. After diagnoses, she was found with appendicitis problem. On the same day, doctor conducted Appendicectomy. After seven days, she was discharged on October 04, 2025, in good health. Her father and mother came to the hospital to receive her. The family expressed their gratitude to Helpster, Mother Clinic and, Bablu Abdullah for their treatment and support. Her father was especially thankful for the financial assistance provided by Helpster.

Prognosis

The doctor explained that an appendicectomy is essential for Farzana’s recovery and will quickly relieve her pain, allowing her to return to her normal life and continue her education without further interruption. With timely surgery, her chances of a full and healthy recovery are excellent, and she can resume her studies within a short period. However, if the condition is left untreated, the inflamed appendix could burst, leading to a life-threatening infection such as peritonitis or sepsis. This would not only cause severe complications but could put her life in immediate danger. The doctor emphasized that prompt surgical intervention is the only way to protect Farzana’s health and future.
