Born at just 29 weeks of gestation and weighing only 750 grams, baby Tarif Hossain is the third of four premature siblings (quadruplets) born to Mrs. Tanjina Akter and Mr. Tarek Hossain. His father works as a low-income salesman in a local cosmetic shop and his mother is a homemaker caring for all four high-risk newborns, leaving the family unable to meet the substantial costs of prolonged NICU care, oxygen support, and essential medications. Tarif is a critically ill but resilient infant, battling severe respiratory distress, poor activity, and feeding intolerance due to his extreme prematurity and immature organ systems. Without continued specialized treatment, he faces a high risk of life-threatening complications, including respiratory failure, serious infections, brain injury, and long-term disability. His parents, already under immense emotional and financial strain while worrying for all four of their premature babies, are urgently seeking support so that Tarif can survive, grow stronger, and eventually return home to his parents and three siblings.

Baby Tarif Hossain was admitted to the NICU on 28th September 2025, where he received intensive care for 32 days. Through the generous support of Helpster Charity Bangladesh, his critical treatments—including oxygen therapy, surfactant treatment, antibiotics, and nutritional support—continued without interruption. Over the following weeks, Tarif’s breathing stabilized, his weight steadily increased, and he gradually adapted to feeding. On 1st November 2025, he was discharged with medical advice for continued care at home. His parents, filled with emotion and gratitude, thanked Helpster for giving their baby a new chance at life.

With continued NICU care—including respiratory support, surfactant therapy, TPN, infection control, and careful monitoring—doctors are cautiously optimistic that Baby Tarif’s lungs and other vital organs can gradually mature, giving him a realistic chance of survival and healthy development. This treatment greatly reduces the risks of life-threatening complications such as severe respiratory failure, sepsis, brain injury, and long-term disability. As he stabilizes, the plan is to slowly transition him from IV nutrition to his mother’s breast milk and eventually from intensive care to a general neonatal ward, supporting normal growth and bonding with his family. However, without this specialized and sustained NICU treatment, his immature lungs and organs may fail, leading to critical deterioration, permanent disability, or death. Early, continuous, and comprehensive medical management is therefore essential to give Tarif the opportunity to live, grow, and develop like other children.
