Doreen is a cheerful and playful five-year-old girl who dreams of becoming a teacher someday. She was brought to the hospital with complaints of severe headache, repeated vomiting, difficulty in breathing, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, and fever. Earlier, she had been treated at the local government health center, but her condition did not improve. Jecinta, her single mother with no stable source of income, could not afford to take her to a better hospital. Out of desperation, she sought help through prayer at church, hoping her daughter would recover. However, Doreen’s condition worsened, with more frequent vomiting and poor feeding, leaving her mother deeply worried. While returning home after seeking help from her uncle in vain, she met the village chief, who introduced her to Helpster Charity. Overjoyed, she immediately took Doreen to God’s Favor Hospital for assistance to save her daughter’s life.

Doreen was brought into the hospital and diagnosed with severe malaria with severe dehydration, she spent three days in the hospital. She was given antimalarial drugs, hydrating fluids and antipyretic medicine to relieve severe symptoms of malaria. Two days later Doreen started feeling better with reduced fever and vomiting episodes, this gladdens Jecinta so much that she couldn't imagine what could have happened to her daughter if not Helpster charity interventions. Jecinta was very happy and thankful to Helpster charity for tremendous support treatment for Doreen. On the third day Doreen was was strong again and her health is getting better, she was discharged with oral medication to continue at home

Upon thorough clinical evaluation and laboratory investigations, Doreen was diagnosed with severe malaria. Her symptoms - including persistent vomiting, severe headache, fever, difficulty in breathing, and poor feeding — were consistent with a complicated malaria infection requiring urgent medical intervention. Immediate treatment was initiated with appropriate intravenous antimalarial therapy and supportive management Following initiation of treatment, Doreen is expected to respond positively, with gradual reduction in fever, improved breathing, and better oral intake. Given her absence of neurological complications, her prognosis is good. When she completes the prescribed treatment and follow-up care, she is expected to make a full recovery.
