Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?

When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background

Abigael is just one year old, and she's the second child in her family. She's always a happy and joyful little one. Abigael lives with her other family members. Lately, she has been showing signs of swollen lower limbs.

Medical history

Recently, Abigael has been experiencing swelling in her lower limbs. She was diagnosed with protein-energy malnutrition and anemia, marking the second time she has faced this condition. Her mother received nutritional counseling on how to prevent future occurrences of protein-energy malnutrition and anemia. After treatment, Abigael was discharged feeling better. She was scheduled for weekly clinic visits for a month to monitor her progress.

Prognosis

If left untreated, anaemia can lead to fatigue, weakness, paleness, shortness of breath, and reduced overall quality of life. In severe cases, untreated anaemia can result in complications such as heart problems, impaired cognitive function, and compromised immune response, underscoring the importance of timely diagnosis and treatment to prevent these health issues. Treatments for anaemia might involve taking supplements or having medical procedures. Eating a healthy diet might prevent some forms of anemia.
