Why is treatment sometimes done earlier than the payment?
When a case is urgent and vital, hospitals often proceed with delivering medical care right away to save a life, even before the finalisation of admission procedures. Usually, when this happens, hospitals put the bill on our credit until the funds are transferred to their accounts. That’s why the chronology can sometimes be in disorder.

Background
Mahim Ahmed, a 13-year-old boy, has been suffering from right-sided scrotal swelling since birth due to congenital hydrocele. At first, the swelling was small and painless, but as he grew older, it gradually increased in size and began causing pain and discomfort. Over the past 10 days, the pain has become severe, making it difficult for him to walk, play, or even sit comfortably in class. His father, who runs a small tea stall earning around 6,000 BDT per month, struggles to provide for the family, leaving them unable to afford the urgent surgery doctors have advised. If left untreated, Mahim’s condition could worsen, leading to infection, chronic pain, or permanent damage, depriving this bright and hardworking boy of his chance to live a normal and active life.
Medical history
Mahim was scared when he went to the hospital, but his surgery went well, and he came home with no pain or complications. Now, he's back to playing, smiling, and enjoying time with his friends. He can walk, sleep, and study without discomfort — things he couldn't do before. Mahim says he feels happy and strong again.
Prognosis
According to the doctor, surgical correction of the right-sided congenital hydrocele is essential to relieve Mahim’s pain and swelling and to restore normal movement and comfort. The surgery is simple and safe, and it will allow him to walk, play, and attend school without discomfort or restriction. If left untreated, the hydrocele may continue to increase in size, causing persistent pain, difficulty in movement, and a risk of infection or damage to the testicular tissue, which could affect his future health. Timely surgery will not only prevent these complications but also help Mahim regain a healthy, active, and confident childhood.
